Google Doodle- Arbor Day

#ArborDay is celebrated all over the globe. In America it is most often celebrated on the last Friday of April, but the date around the world varies. The earliest recorded Arbor Day was in 1594 in the Spanish village of Mondoñedo.
The #LastUniversalCommonAncestor between a human and a tree lived over 3.5 billion years ago. Forests began to develop 350 million years ago. Humans only began to evolve 4 million years ago. Trees have been here 87.5 times longer than humans.
The #OldestLivingTree to date is a 16-foot spruce in Sweden that is 9,500 years-old. It is a clonal tree that regenerates itself every 600 years. The oldest single tree is a 5,062 year-old bristlecone pine that lives in the Great Basin in California's White Mountains. In 2012 a 26-year-old woman set fire to the #Senator, a 3,500-year-old cypress tree in Orlando, Florida.
The Earth loses 18.7 million acres of forests per year.
Do the math. Plant trees.
